Plumb
Cut

I'm not a stranger
No I am yours
With crippled anger
And tears that still drip sore

A fragile flame aged
Is misery
And when our hearts meet
I know you see

I do not want to be afraid
I do not want to die inside just to breathe in
I'm tired of feeling so numb
Relief exists I find it when
I am cut

I may seem crazy
Or painfully shy
And these scars wouldn't be so hidden
If you would just look me in the eye
I feel alone here and cold here
Though I don't want to die
But the only anesthetic that makes me feel anything kills inside

I do not want to be afraid
I do not want to die inside just to breathe in
I'm tired of feeling so numb
Relief exists I find it when
I am cut
Pain
I am not alone
I am not alone

I'm not a stranger
No I am yours
With crippled anger
And tears that still drip sore

But I do not want to be afraid
I do not want to die inside just to breathe in
I'm tired of feeling so numb
Relief exists I found it when
I was cut

This was taken from an interview with Plumb about the song "Cut."

RS: They also remixed the song off the album called Cut, which is about a really strong subject like Damaged. Tell us a little bit about the song Cut?
Plumb: It's more or less that a fan on the message board said she was a cutter and she was asking if there was anyone else out there that was a cutter and she had a huge response from some people. Self-cutting is unfortunately a growing form of abuse. She said in her message that her family doesn't understand, her friends don't understand and even sometimes she doesn't understand, but just sometimes she feels so numb inside, just to feel alive she wants to cut the skin. That was just so powerful and poetic to me that it was the inspiration behind Cut, and I certainly didn't write it because I understand it completely and I know how to fix that problem. It was more or less to create conversation so that when someone hears it, if nothing else they feel less alone knowing that there's someone else out there like them going through a similar thing and to give them a tool to start talking about it. Because that's one of the first steps of healing, is to be able to communicate and write it out and talk it out and have a conversation about it. So if nothing else, that would be a goal of the song. It's already doing that and I'm really excited about it.

Syntax - Destiny

This is my Destiny only child
come on and rescue me 'cos I'm wild
this is my selection when I'm sure
not looking for deception like before

Beautiful creation I adore
this sensation never.. felt before

How can I change the path that I'm on
this is my Destiny
this is my life my own right or wrong
bring it on back to me
How can I say what it is that I want
wisdom speak to me
Life your sweet then the moment is gone

This is my Destiny

This is my intention hear me now
don't need correction please me how
breaking out the institution crazy law
aint no complication live for more

This is my Destiny only child
come on and rescue me 'cos I'm wild

How can I change the path that I'm on
this is my Destiny
this is my life my own right or wrong
bring it on back to me
How can I say what it is that I want
wisdom speak to me
Life your sweet then the moment is gone

This is my Destiny...

This is my Destiny...

Only child, only child

Come on and rescue me
'Cos I'm wild...

And I'm wild (x5)

Three Days Grace - Pain

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all

You're sick of feeling numb
You're not the only one
I'll take you by the hand
And I'll show you a world that you can understand
This life is filled with hurt
When happiness doesn't work
Trust me and take my hand
When the lights go out you will understand

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all

Anger and agony
Are better than misery
Trust me I've got a plan
When the lights go off you will understand

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing
Rather feel pain

I know (I know I know I know I know)
That you're wounded
You know (You know you know you know you know)
That I'm here to save you
You know (You know you know you know you know)
I'm always here for you
I know (I know I know I know I know)
That you'll thank me later

Pain, without love
Pain, can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain

Reality Check - Masquerarde

an urgent sense of regret and now
I'm caught in the zone
my mind arrested be fear and so I
go it alone
a metamorphosis concieved by the
early light
distraction of self comes out in
the night
fabricated I'm constructed of opinions
and lies
which only leads to failing in my
own eyes
seeking to the depths while I'm
masking what's inside
a bitter sweet existence and I cause
my own demise

and I wonder if you've ever seen
life through the eyes of one who
understand what it means to be free
freedom comes when you can let it go
but I guess you wouldn't know

it's such a shame the game you play
congradulations you're invited to
the masquerade
I'd like to know what lies behind the
mask you made

my mind reflects the meaning to things
that are jumbled
resting on the first making time
to rehearse
intricate persona controlled animation
visually impaired cling to pain
immersed
mentally scarred cosmetics dripping down
life in forward motion exists in reverse
unstable at the seams trying to conform
trapped in a maze while sin is at
it's worst

and I wonder what you're gonna do
when you're disguise comes crashing down
and your self comes shining through
are you gonna hide your face
or let it rest in the hands of grace

don't hide your face in the masquerade
don't play the game it's a masquerade

Matchbox 20 - Unwell

All day staring at the ceiling
Making friends with shadows on my wall
All night hearing voices telling me
That I should get some sleep
Because tomorrow might be good for something

Hold on
Feeling like I'm headed for a breakdown
And I don't know why

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be...me

I'm talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train
And I know, I know they've all been talking about me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong with me
Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow I've lost my mind

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

I've been talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
Yeah, they're taking me away

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be

Yeah, how I used to be
How I used to be
Well, I'm just a little unwell
How I used to be
How I used to be
I'm just a little unwell

Scars

I tear my heart open, I sew myself shut
My weakness is that I care too much
And our scars remind us that the past is real
I tear my heart open just to feel

Hallowe'en/ Goodbye Love

Time for another song... (well 2 actually) also from Rent.... but this is one I identify with all too often. I think that's why I like Rent so much. I identify with it... but it's also a depiction of life and to a certain degree I believe that anyone can identify with it. It's interesting though since it's pretty much the "Rentheads" and everyone else that just doesn't get it.

Hallowe'en

MARK
How did we get here?
How the hell...
Pan left - close on the steeple of the church
How did I get here?
How the hell...
Christmas, Christmas Eve - last year
How could a night so frozen
Be so scalding hot?
How can a morning this mild
Be so raw?
Why are entire years strewn
On the cutting room floor of memory
When single frames from one magic night
Forever flicker in close-up
On the 3-D Imax of my mind
That's poetic, that's pathetic
Why did Mimi knock on Roger's door
And Collins choose that phone booth
Back where Angel set up his drums?
Why did Maureen's equipment break down?
Why am I the witness?
And when I capture it on film
Will it mean that it's the end
And I'm alone?

Goodbye Love

MARK
I hear there are great restaurants out west

ROGER
Some of the best, how could she?

MARK
How could you let her go?

ROGER
You just don't know ... how could we lose Angel?

MARK
Maybe you'll see why when you stop escaping your pain at least now if you try
Angel's death won't be in vain

ROGER
His death is in vain

MARK
Are you insane? There's so much to care about there's me there's Mimi-

ROGER
Mimi's got her baggage too

MARK
So do you

ROGER
Who are you to tell me what I know.
What to do

MARK
A friend

ROGER
But who Mark are you?
"Mark has got his work" they say
"Mark lives for his work" and
"Mark's in love with his work"
Mark hides in his work

MARK
>From what?

ROGER
>From facing your failure,
Facing your loneliness, facing the fact you live a lie
Yes, you live a lie tell you why you're always preaching not to be numb
When that's how you thrive you pretend to create and observe
When you really detach from feeling alive

Life Support

For some reason I've got this song stuck in my head at the moment... I'm hoping if I post the lyrics I just might get it out of them... here's to hoping.

"LIFE SUPPORT"

GORDON
Excuse me Paul, I'm having a problem with this, this credo. My T cells are low. I regret that news. Okay.

PAUL
But Gordon, how do you feel today?

GORDON
What do you mean?

PAUL
How do you feel today?

GORDON
Okay

PAUL
Is that all?

GORDON
Best I've felt all year

PAUL
Then why choose fear?

GORDON
I'm a New Yorker, fear's my life
Look - I find some of what you teach suspect
Because I'm used to relying in intellect
But I try to open up to what I don't know

ROGER & GORDON
Because reason says I should have died three years ago

ALL
There's only us
There's only this ...
Forget regret or life is yours to miss
No other road
No other way
No day but today

Another Day

Seems like I am using a lot of quotes and lyrics these days. Guess I am just feeling lazy and don't feel like posting my own thoughts. But lately I have really been drawn to the music from "Rent." So this time it comes from the song "Another Day"

The heart may freeze or it can burn
The pain will ease if I can learn
There is no future
There is no past
I live this moment as my last
There's only us
There's only this
Forget regret
Or life is yours to miss
No other road
No other way
No day but today

"Forget regret or life is yours to miss"

Happy New Year

Wishing everyone a happy new year! As another year draws to a close I am reminded of the song "Closing Time" by Semisonic. "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." 2005 has definitely been an interesting year. For whatever 2005 brought with it: the good, the bad and the ugly, the year will be over in a little over 12 hours. So now it's time to reminisce about the previous year.

The High Points

  • Learning I can rely on other people and not be quite so stubborn and self-reliant
  • My promotion to Performance Coach
  • Moving into the same building I work in (Ahhh the convenience of waking up at the last minute)
  • Getting a team... was getting pretty anxious about my probation period running out and me not having a team
  • Discovering the UFC
  • Vacation in November
  • Highest incentive ever for me
  • Christmas dinner with family

The Low Points

  • Too many to list (Two relationships ending, the breakdown, having my bank account cleaned out, the rumour mill at work, the upcoming court case, Fibro-Fog, etc.)

Let's just say I am more then happy to have this year end! Looking forward to 2006. May it be a better year and bring with it some new beginnings and some changes. May it be a good year for all of you as well. :o)

Did My Time

Since my last post was on new beginnings.... and the idea of atoning for the past.... I just thought I'd post the lyrics to a song that I've been thinking about a great deal lately.

Korn
"Did My Time"

Realized I can never win
Sometimes I feel like I have failed
Inside where do I begin
My mind is laughing at me
Tell me why am I to blame
Aren't we suppose to be the same
That's why I will never tame
This thing that's burning in me

I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me

Sometimes I can never tell
If I've got something after me
That's why I just beg and plead
For this curse to leave me
Tell me why am I to blame
Aren't we suppose to be the same
That's why I will never tame
This thing that's burning in me

I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me

Betrayed
I feel so enslaved
I really Tried
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time

I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me

Oh God, the anger's changing me [x2]
